The Hollow House

Elegant in its splendor, beautiful and refined And to the eyes and ears present, it is just a place But in the upper floors, the fabric of space shifts There are crawling things within those shadows And so unwisely, when just a young man I strayed into the hallways, leading to higher floors The stairs ascended for what seemed like forever Down corridors impossibly long And at last I came before the being who sought me And gazed in horror as the sarcophagus opened
