Feeding Off Fear

In the fields of dreams, there are predators Slipping through the ether in the dark Waiting for an opportunity to take advantage Moving ever silently around your awareness Hunting for nightmares, to feed on your fear Lurking in wait for the ambush Feeding on your terror and fear of the unknown Poised on the edge of consciousness to strike Light does not affect them, or open or closed doors Creatures living outside of our realm, feeding off fear Sometimes you can escape them, and startle awake They lie in wait for their chance to attack you You don't feel their claws sinking in Their venom keeps them hidden from your mind You might keep dying over and over Feeding them more each time Or you might wake up drenched in sweat The victim of their vampiric appetites
