The storm over the water Waves crashing against the rocks Forces of beauty and chaos Invokes something ancient and primeval The rain strips pretention away The cold robs the mind of intention Retreating back to the shadows Trying to escape what cannot be run from No amount of distance will liberate from the echoes No amount of wandering will allow such sweet escape Calling out to me Haunting my dreams The agony so searing Though the flesh has long since healed
