Making of "Adyta"
As some of you might know, the first concert we did with Epica was in the 013 venue in Tilburg, which is a beautiful venue, by the way, especially to have your first concert at, but we had a little problem. / As we haven't recorded The Phantom Agony yet, we also couldn't use Adyta as an intro like we do during the gigs after its release, so I decided to try and record it myself in the little studio I have at my place, just a week before. / The CD version of course is much better with choirs, orchestra and no proper arrangements, but I still think it turned out pretty well, especially since it was only recorded in one night....

Making of "Cry for the Moon"
This is the pre-production for Cry for the Moon, as we recorded it at my place before entering the Excess Studio to record it as a demo track. / As you can hear, it contains drums (which I then played on my synthesizer), guitars and synthesizer, and this last one has a funny story to it. / Since we only had two days in the studio, we wanted to use all the time we had as efficient as possible, so we came up with the idea of recording all the synthesizer tracks as MIDI tracks on my computer before entering the studio, so we would only have to transfer that to the recording computer at the studio....

Making of "Quietus"
Quietus was the first Consign to Oblivion song we played live, which was at the Graspop festival in Belgium. / As you can hear, this pre-production recording contains drums, guitars and synthesizers. The drums I played on my synthesizer again. Also, the guitars were recorded at my studio. And Mark, Coen and Yves did the synthesizer recording in their studio. / Probably the first thing that you'll notice is the sound of the intro, which isn't that folk as you can hear on the CD. The reason for this is that it was Miro who came up with this idea, while we were in the studio. For the ones who don't know who Miro is, he also works in the Gate Studio, and he usually takes care of the orchestral arrangements and sound building. We thought it really sounded cool, so we used it....

Multinational corporations / Genocide of the starving nations...
