War Torn

A war of becoming I am sent to fight In a pit of worms and snakes Scared, cold, and hungry The serpents bite, injecting venom inside With clever lies and deceit they poison My goal is in sight, Escape from the pit of serpents Finally a chance to breath as a hand reaches out to me Climb out to find a feast and love unending A loving father with arms wide open “These are my gifts, now take and eat.” I’m starving, but these gifts I refuse to receive Witness with horror as I cut myself open And devour my own guts instead Now I cast myself back to the serpents! To be your creation I shall refuse This is the defiance of sin, the evil and wretchedness of man’s rebellion Let us cast ourselves back into the fire instead, back into the pit of snakes that we hate God for allowing. War-Torn, refusing the very thing we’re searching for Back home to the slaughterhouse we go Knowing and shunning it’s evils Yet to the devil for food we continue his food, made from our own flesh or of our fellow man We devour ourselves and eachother Like pigs we are, we deserve the hellfire Yet upon the cross he hung, Oh God forgive my wretched sin Fulfill your promises, let this man and his sin be crucified Let the stone in my chest be turned into flesh Let my numbness feel again the weight of my sin, and then let the weight be lifted Oh God Heal this war torn heart, let me die that I may come to life. Tear out the stone no matter how painful I don’t want any fabrications I want the real and true thing, though it appear as fragile, it is living.
