Transformation of the Plants

The roots break through the cracked earth's skin A sickly green where death begins The air is heavy with the scent of rot The soil devours all that is caught The leaves wilt slow beneath the weight The flowers wither and disintegrate A force unknown moves through the ground A twisted growth where life is bound The vines creep tall where the sun has died Their thorns are sharp like the world denied The earth transforms into something new A plague of growth where nothing grew The branches twist in unnatural form A bloom of decay that will not transform The wind blows cold and the seeds have turned Into twisted things for which none have yearned
