The first shade speaks in broken thoughts It lingers behind every glance A presence felt but never seen Breathing cold into the spine The second waits inside the walls Its silence louder than a scream It feeds on hours left unnamed And grows beneath forgotten dust The third crawls through shallow dreams It pulls apart the shape of truth No past is safe from what it knows No future forms beneath its weight Three shades drift through hollow eyes None belong to what I was They mark the end of all I held And stay when everything else fades
