The journey has been so long and far The pain so deep it cuts the suffering spirit Reminisce about those times Almost content yet ever so uncertain For the road is rough and the end not in sight No way out of these nightmare walls The darkness calls, every cell screams Only shadows linger in the hallway Trapped and suffocating, anxiety and depression but a true friend Dysphoria ever present and staggering in the loneliness The longing and fear in the mind No escaping the torment from within A surreal maladaptive daydream takes form An alternate reality safe and calm In the depth of night’s embrace The tunnel is very far away Happiness is now unattainable Only fading memories mimicking hope Falling into despair Not even the pills protect the tears Flowing in streams of utter melancholy The darkness consumes and swallows your soul
