The Arctic Circle

Whence the light dies My soul, my soul shall wander the ice The land where the sunset is longer than day and night entwined The Arctic circle, the hyperborean is realized Far away from the sun The icy births have begun Trickling down is the snowfall Twinkling bright are the stars high in the sky The aurora is a fire that burns the ionosphere Darkness has come but I feel no fear The Wintry breeze is like a fire brushing against my skin A fire that’s never known heat Like a mystic transience I have seen in my dreams How strange it came to be But this place (and wind) knows my envy Of how it is so unchained and so free Whence winds dance Whither stand icy mountains and plateaus (of snow) Have I reached home In a land I had never known?
