A memory fades to time, Rusted over in my mind, With a mouth full of tar For someone declined, And a life of mistakes With regrets to rethink, But there's no justifying So I leave it to sink in, A bitter look of grief Or maybe one of guilt, But when have I cared Or maybe when have I not, And the black and white patterns Wash over where I once stared, What feels like I'm sinking Into the searing tar pits of confliction.
