A lake as white as the snow I see as the winds around me blow The land well acquaints itself with the juxtaposition of light and dark The cold is one I have known since before I grew old I saw the death and resurrection of the sun When my eyes opened wide and the Arctic gale doth cried Shall my flame become frozen again soon I would have found my peace under the polar moon The polar night-my last rites Beside the white lake The sunset-my fate.
