The sun hangs low, a molten eye Watching dust and time drift by No winds to stir, no shade to find Only the endless dunes unwind Footsteps fade in burning sand Tracing paths to nowhere's hand The sky is vast, the world is bare A silent weight too great to bear The bones of wanderers lie concealed By shifting waves of dust unhealed Their voices whisper, lost and dry Beneath the cruel and empty sky The horizon calls, yet stays the same A mirage of hope, a fleeting flame Through endless waste, they march alone Bound to the sands, to dust, to stone
