Funeral garments are filthy Never washed off the blood Face painted in dejection As the casket lowers slow Savor patience until I am Back to this uncrowded grave To take a frozen gander At the beauty of decay Taking pieces of you home Many corpses on display We are now all family And here you will stay I take the coins from your eyes A penny for your rot The silence is what ruins it Wish a carcass could talk I confide only in the rain and the cemetery’s Avifauna
